Finding Respite From the Fog

We were due at a soccer supporter meeting at 9:00 on Saturday morning that was held in a home in Ballard.  Afterward, we sought out some places to extend our day out of the house, and hopefully out of some of the heavy fog that had us socked in at home on our hill.

We went first to a Starbucks in Ballard and enjoyed a latte and some goodies.  that helped.  Then we headed over to the Ballard Locks, or officially the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks.

There were a few tourists around, but no boats seeking passage through the ship canal.

The fog was lighter here at sea level, so we enjoyed a stroll through the garden, looking for signs of life and color.

In our moderate climate it's amazing but true that there is almost always something blooming.  And even the structure of the bare trees is lovely in a well tended garden.

That was not the end of our city trekking, but I'll post another chapter tomorrow.

I have been stalling on getting my exercise in on this laid back Sunday,  hoping the fog would lift a bit so I would want to venture outside.  But the fog still sits heavily on our hill and the temperature is a very damp, cold, 37 degrees.  It's time to get on the exercise bike.

  1. You saw a lot of color today!

You had pretty good weather for the first couple of weeks after we left for Tucson.

  2. David and I were freezing when we woke up today. It was 64 degrees outside! We promptly wore fleece lined jackets, but were still cold.

  4. We were in fog all day long on Saturday, but today (Sunday) the entire afternoon was sunny and bright. Amazing the difference it makes! I saw that one only had to ascend a short distance in altitude to get out of the fog. Tomorrow might be better for you; I really hope so! :-)
