It reached 50 degrees today and I went outside for a little while to sit in the sunshine!
It takes us a long time to get going in the morning, but we managed to stay on schedule, get two icings on my hip, a shower, breakfast and get to my first post op physical therapy session by 11:00.
When I saw Erica I told her I was doing poorly, hurting lots. When I showed her where she said that was normal. When she had me get up on the table I swung my legs up and she said, "Wow!, 90 % of people who've just had their hip sawed four days ago can't do that at all!"
Erica has been my PT therapist for many years and knows all of my issues. She is wonderful. I called her my cheerleader. Apparently I am doing OK!
The exercises she had me do, now that I have instruction, are going to help, and the massaging she did relaxed some very tight thigh muscles. Tom watched and is helping me at home.
I was discouraged but now I am back on track.
I'm impressed with how well you're doing. I'm a believer in physio therapy. You have to do what they tell and it works.
ReplyDeleteHooray! That is really nice that you have the same PT. If you're able, remember a little ibuprofen might help. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteHang in, there, Linda. Sending you Aloha from Hawaii.
ReplyDeleteNice you were able to get outdoors and enjoy the sun. Erica sounds like a wonderful cheerleader, and knowing that you are head of the class is testament to your strength.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to hear this news. It has to be a struggle (at our age especially) to have this sort of surgery. I truly hope the exercises and time will make you all better. And glad to hear you have a good friend as a physiotherapist who knows your issues.
ReplyDeleteGreat news! Our bodies have the miraculous ability to heal, given time and therapy.
ReplyDeleteNice you could sit outside. I imagine it must be very painful , I experienced the back surgery and experienced the pain. I hope you will recover and that the pain diminished quickly. I think Tom will be a great help and the PT therapist who gave you good news. Thank you for your visit and it was nice to see you!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you're doing more than well!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it wonderful to be able to get both your legs up on the table?
ReplyDeleteKeep on keeping on!
ReplyDeleteI haven't commented before but have enjoyed reading your blog. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you recover from your surgery.
ReplyDeleteYou have good help. And what seems to be a good attitude.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you've got such a caring physical therapist. I'm loving my PT guy too.
