Mulling It Over

I have not been feeling well lately. I spent five hours today being tested, with no definitive results. I am awaiting lab reports. It might be minor, or it might be more complicated. I'm voting for minor. As I have spent the last several days in lethargy, I have been mulling over the political events of the last three weeks. I have gone from the high of the Kennedy, Clintons, Biden, and Obama speeches to the low of the hollow and mocking words of Mayor 9/11 and pit bull Sarah, and the self-delusional "man of change", McCain. Today the campaign talk was all about lipstick on a pig! Now there's a major national crises we need to spend time dealing with. Yesterday it was Obama the child molester, because he supported personal safety training against predators of young children. He has been referred to as "uppity", a word that is usually followed by the N word. We are all so enthralled with Sarah Palin because she is "just like us". Oh really, ladies? What do we have in common with her other than that she has children? She is one remarkable self-promoter, stomping her way to power, slashing all who get in her way, putting her kids on stage and then whining when she doesn't like the intensity of the spotlight she has put them in. What part of this is "just like us"? Or is "just like us" a code word for WHITE. There are real issues in this campaign, but Sen. McCain has declared that it will be about personality. If that must be so, then let's take a real close look at those personalities. Who really is just like you would want a president to be?

  1. I am the same age as Palin, and have the same amount of children. I couldn't imagine doing her job.

  3. I have been listening to alot of talk radio lately, left and right, trying to get a more "balanced" view. The conclusion I have come to is how dangerously divided this country has become with hatred towards the other on each side. Not good...

  4. Linda, I hope you are feeling better, already. I send you healing thoughts.

I have to say that I agree with you on this issue (of course you know my stance). I don't think anyone world wide has their eyes turned away, but are hoping we will get Republicans out, because they all realize how important environment is to us all.

We are no longer isolated from each other on this planet. We never were, we just couldn't see it as clearly as we do today. Some don't even have blinders on, they know we're in trouble and think it is a sign of the times for some return to take place, and don't mind ruining the earth because of their belief, in something that may not even happen. (as has been predicted time and time again, and look, we're still here)

How can we let minds like this hold office?

I certainly hope this is a divisive election, I don't think it is possible to turn our heads the other way and pretend the environment and international politics aren't important. I have friends from abroad who are saying, "what are you doing over there, don't you care about anyone but your country? We all have a stake."

Also I can imagine the frustration we would have trying to get China to care about the environment, one, if we aren't, and two, even if we were, and we had a 'pigheaded ' politician like McCain and Palin in particular in office.

I think McCain wanted to be pres. real bad, I wonder what he and Cindy will feel like taking a back seat to center stage Palin and her Palin in the butt politics,

if America isn't astute enough to understand we can't have a Republican owned by bonkers Fundamentalists 'leaders' in charge of American politics..shiver....

I want to make a statement here tho, I don't believe the fundamentalists people are to blame except they are coerced into their beliefs. I believe most of them value living in a democracy.

Faith in the people, may progress rule!

One last thing, one lesson from the Bible is being given something to care for, as in good stewards of Gods gifts. Well , I think God would come back and say, well, done my faithful servant if we took care of each other and the earth.

This other reasoning is flagrant fundamental BS like any other Fundamentalist religion in the world. is, and dangerous.

Power to the Peace Makers, Obama for President..

Blush, I'll get of my soap box now...

.....I believe in the God Loving people of the compassionate Christ, they will do what is best, and elect Obama.

  5. Hi Linda,
I'm going through some tests right now, too. It's no fun and I've got the lethargy mixed with frustration also. When I read your blog last night, could you hear me all the way over there saying, "Yes! Yes! Yes!"

I am so frustrated and angry about the sneaky Republican smear tactics that it's making me crazy. It's so underhanded for McCain to try to look clean and upright while getting his people (including his very sarcastic VP nominee) to do his dirty work!
    Arrghhhhhhhhhh!

Why can't people see that if they keep Republicans in power we WILL get more of the same? What does Palin stand for? Drilling, anti-abortion, anti-gun control, anti sex education....

    Arrrghhhh....

Oh dear.... I was trying to calm down before doing my comment.

    Sigh......

  7. Hi Linda,
I'm sorry you are not feeling well. I've been struggling with health issues almost all summer and recently resulted in a diagnosis of Graves Disease (hyperthyroidism/toxic goiter) and I've been thinking about how much I/we take good health for granted.

I love it when you get political. There couldn't be a more important election in my opinion. And maybe blogs like yours can help people to focus on the important stuff. Good for you.

Well, anyone who predicts Jesus' return are in error as Jesus Himself said no one knows the day or hour. (Matthew 24:36) Also, He said He will come as a thief in the night (Matthew 24:43, 1 Thessalonians 5:2) and believers are to keep watch (Matthew 25:13). This of course, is from my biblical worldview. I do think being good stewards of our environment is important.
