More Snow

All week there were warnings. By Thursday the grocery stores were swamped and shelves were going bare, then hurriedly restocked. Hardware stores sold out of rock salt and de-icers. It was coming!

We went to breakfast as usual on Friday morning, and then made our trip to the grocery store, which was still very busy. Then we settled in.

The snow began falling here about 12:30, and just kept coming. I ventured out about 4:30, ploughing through already deep snow to check the mail out at the street. The mail man had not made it.

We watched it snow through the evening. By this morning we had a bunch! I geared up, took my camera, and went out to get the newspaper. There was none. Just snow.

 Rugosa rose along the driveway.
 Beauty berry
 Greenhouse Man.

Rosemary gave up, bowed her head, and created a cave.

We'll call this the official measurement - 10 inches.
The plant supports are now snow sculptures.

The Bonsai hoop house now has insulation.

Forsythia buds. It will be awhile now before they bloom.

Ooops! Almost over the boot tops.

The French bench is now a sofa.

It's supposed to dip down to 15 tonight, so this stuff will be around for a while. I think we're stuck here.

  1. Glad you made it out to the grocery store to get stocked up. Strangely, we seem to have gotten somewhat less up on the plateau south of you, we only have about 7 1/2 inches. Not only is it supposed to get very cold tonight, but they keep saying more is coming.

  2. Well, wow! I think you have a couple more inches of snow than we do here in Granite Falls. Ron cleaned off the driveway with the tractor, and actually had to work himself out of the ditch on the 4WD tractor with knobby tires. Slippery stuff!

  3. Yes, we saw on the news what a dump of snow you got. It does make for great photos though.

  4. Your photos are so cool and remind me of winter pics on calendars and book illustrations. We used to love snow by sledding or skiing but age seems to add a new dimension and we appreciate its beauty less in search of warmth of sun.

  6. wow, that's deep. I thought your photos were all black and white with all that snow. Not fun but beautiful in its own way IF you don't have to travel anywhere.

  9. You certainly got the snow. It is beautiful when you see it this way. I hope you don't have to get out anytime soon.

  10. Oh my goodness! Your pictures are amazing. I do love that happy face with all the snow. We are used to your naming the bushes and flowers with their blooms. Now they all look the same, just different shapes. We heard about and saw pictures of Seattle again on our local news. Of course, I always think of you and tell Poppy that's where you are. One would think Seattle belonged just to you and Tom. :)

  11. I had heard the PNW was getting hammered. Wow as pretty as it all is, I'm guessing you are pretty much house bound. Stay safe and warm.

  12. Your wonderful pictures show how lovely it can be if you're warm and safe inside. We are expecting snow tonight and tomorrow, but who knows where it will actually hit? Many pretty designs made by the snow in your post, Linda. Thank you for sharing it all. :-)

  13. You look like Minnesota! Hope you enjoy the snow a little. I moved snow again this morning and it is snowing right now. I think that snow in your pictures will be here Tuesday. Perhaps you will be melting by the middle of the week. Stay warm:)

  15. Your garden looks so pretty dressed in white. Hope you haven't lost any trees. While it's cozy to be home and we have a store within walking distance should we need anything, I'm ready to go back to work. At this rate, schools will be in session until the fourth of July.

  16. So beautiful! But too cold for me - 15º, BRRRRR! We hit the 60's yesterday with heavy winds and some rain and we were shivering in Honolulu.

My daughter in Seattle is homebound for now because of the snow. Maybe that is a good thing?

  17. This really is beautiful and awesome! I knew you had snow, but I didn’t know you had this much. Those icicles always worried me because it would cause ice damming at our house.
