The Skagit Valley Tulips

On Monday, Earth Day, we made our annual pilgrimage north to the Skagit Valley, where flower bulbs are a major crop, and where, in April, the valley celebrates the Tulip Festival.

There are many tulip fields scattered around the valley, and two major display gardens. Each year we visit our favorite, Roozengaarde, where the displays are breathtakingly beautiful and there are usually bulb growing fields steps away.

This year we had to be prepared for rain, and it did drip and spit light rain much of the time, but that didn't deter us or hundreds of other flower worshipers from tiptoeing through the tulips.

I have made an attempt to cull and cut down my hundreds of photos, but nevertheless, be prepared for a major photo dump. To make up for it, I will now just go without text.

Enjoy.

 Hi, Tom.

While this is not a natural planting, it does illustrate that there are no clashing colors in nature. People should behave the same way.

  2. Fabulous! Nigel asked if I wanted to do an outing to the tulip fields this spring, but I demurred, wanting to spend as much time as possible renovating my own garden. Thanks for taking and posting so many gorgeous photos, I don't need to go now.

  16. This is so gorgeous, Linda. I'm now working on my Japan blog posts and caring for mom who got sick in the last couple of days of the cruise. It was scary the first few days we were home, but I think she's improving now. I just love tulips and you've really captured their beauty. I took 1,001+ photos of cherry blossoms so I know what you mean.
