People Who Are Good At Their Work

In the last two days I have met with two people who are very good at what they do.

On Sunday afternoon we had an appointment with the Geek Squad at Best Buy. I have figured out a lot of what I needed to do in setting up my new laptop. Switching from Windows 7 to Windows 10 wasn't that hard, and I found online help with most of what I needed. However we had a Microsoft Account problem that made it impossible to sign in to Microsoft, which means there was stuff I couldn't access.

Reza to the rescue. While it turns out I had to be where my land line was - home -  to finish the task, he gave me great instructions that did the trick. And while we were with him, he answered a lot of other questions too.

Reza is an older man, obviously an immigrant somewhere back in time, but what a great guy to work with. And secretly we even agreed on Trump!

The this  morning I had a dental appointment to do a lot of expensive work. My teeth are breaking at too fast a rate now in my old age. I used up my dental insurance coverage for the year way back in January, so when I lost a crown and had another cracked tooth that needed a crown, It required a bunch of cash out of pocket and several hours in the dentist chair. Dr. Mah is young, friendly, fast, and kind. We had to find a new dentist last year, and this is my first experience with her.

No, I did not enjoy my dental experience, but it sure was bearable, and I feel like I am in good hands, or should I say I have good hands in my mouth. :-)

The process included a root canal and a post in one tooth and a crown on the other. I snapped a pic from the x-ray monitor to show you the post.
No, it's not really that big, but big for the little tooth it's in. Now I hope this holds. I have  temporary crowns and get to go back on Dec. 23 to get the permanent crowns. Merry Christmas! But Dr. Mah will take care of me.

Now the Novocain is finally wearing off. I'm hopping it doesn't hurt. After going without lunch, I'm looking forward to eating dinner.

  1. i went to the dentist this week, but only for a cleaning. I did try a new dentist in Florida a while ago -- one who wrote up a treatment plan that came to over 12,000 dollars of almost entirely cosmetic work. If I could have changed one thing about my physical self (by the wave of a magic wand) it would have been my teeth, but I am certainly not interested in doing that kind of "treatment" at this stage of life. I do wish my old dentist hadn't retired, but I guess that's a bit selfish!

  2. I'm not too keen about dental care. I know I need it but it's a pain. I have a very good dental plant with my retired teachers group.

  5. I had two trips to the dental specialist this year to do a root canal in two steps, so I sympathize with your experience, and I used up my dental insurance up to its limit this year.

  7. That's another part of aging that isn't any fun at all. In fact, little of it could be called fun, but dental work is way down there for me. Glad it's behind you for the most part, Linda.

Your wreath header is beautiful. I liked opening your blog before .... as the huge colored picture was so beautiful. I have a feeling you are going to have something new for January.

  9. Interesting that your talented geek was an older man. That's one for our generation.
The dental work sounds awful. Hope there was no pain after the Novocaine wore off. You really need to quit shelling walnuts with your teeth:))

  11. We have access to the Geek Squad at Best Buy, too. They have been a godsend for us especially regarding our computer, when we got some malware that had to be removed by a professional.
