Sunday, Sunday, We loved That Day

Last Sunday was a big day.

The Sounders season opener was scheduled for 12:00 noon at the stadium, so we decided to make a full day of it.

We left home before 9 AM, geared up, and on the train to the city center. We walked down to The Market for breakfast with a view at Lowell's.

Tom had a crab omelette. I had my standard, less exotic fare, bacon, eggs, and french toast.
We walked back up town to catch the train to the stadium, where we met up with our crew, Jill and Irene.
Pre-match we all celebrated our MLS Cup victory of 2019. The Sounders have now won it twice, so we get two stars on our jerseys.
You can't really see it from our perch up high, but the cup was presented and is on that pedestal in the forefront.
The Emerald City Supports tiffo was outstanding! The 40,000+ soccer fans loved it. I decided I was too old and arthritic to help produce this stuff anymore, but I know what a huge amount of work goes into it by a handful of volunteers.
It was huge! And it's only visible for a few minutes.
 We won the match!
We lingered until the crowds thinned so Tom could go to the team store to use his Christmas gift card to help pay for his new Sounders kit. Now he has STARS.
A giant replica of the MLS Cup was in the stadium plaza.
We weren't done yet. We took the train back home and rested for a bit before going out to a nearby restaurant that is one of Jill's favorites. Her birthday is Wednesday, but we got the family together to celebrate early.

We were happy for a day full of good things.

  11. Happy Birthday Jill. I know your family is happy that the season has started and with a bang. We have similar seasons, just different sports. I am delighted also that baseball is close to starting and that spring training has been really exciting. We are winning which has been a long time coming. Hope you all go for three stars.
