Peck of Pickled Peppers

Well, not quite a peck, and not pickled, but, well.....peppers.

And tomatoes.

Today we harvested more Poblano peppers and our first red bell pepper. The red pepper is sweet and will be part of a mix of grilled vegetables for dinner. I roasted the Poblanos, chopped them up and put them in the freezer. They will be used in cooking later. I put them in my cheesy grits for shrimp and grits.

We have been enjoying a steady supply of home grown tomatoes, one of the best treats ever of late summer. We love them in Caprese salad with fresh mozzarella, fresh basil from our garden, and olive oil.

The days are just kind of rolling along. Tom had been doing a lot of work painting, re-glazing, cleaning and refurbishing his greenhouse. I have been puttering here and there but mostly just keeping myself going, walking most days, keeping up with my PT, trying to keep myself moving.

The weather has turned cool, and sometimes cloudy, and I am loving it. Unfortunately we still have had so significant rain.

I keep up with the news but try not to dwell too much on it. I can't fix any of it.

Peace be with you.

  2. We got an inch and a half yesterday and it is amazing how quickly brown grass can green up. Hope you get that pleasure soon.
Nice crop. Isn't it nice that there are things we still have some control over.

  3. The news is worse than the plague as we see our society decline into disgruntled reactive unkind people. I try to avoid it...it probably is our last few weeks of summer which seems never ending here. We finally have 90s in temperature. Going to outdoor market for homegrown tomatoes today.

  4. They look delicious! I am glad you are able to get some exercise, I know what a difference in makes in how I feel. I am also staying away from the news except for PBS Newshour. I cried many tears last week as I watched the horror unfold in Afghanistan. :-(

  9. I just can't grow tomatoes. But I do have ONE bell pepper ready to harvest. Good call on now watching the news. If I can do something or change it, then I will do what I can. Otherwise, I don't want to be haunted with bad news.

  10. Your peppers are so pretty. We are going to miss having fresh tomatoes once these last few are gone. Glad you're getting cooler weather; hope it will get to us soon. We rarely watch the news. It is very depressing. Why can't people just be kind.
