We did stay up past midnight on New Year's Eve and watched the fireworks on the Space Needle. Our TV camera angle showed mostly smoke but I found this better view on line. Where was that wind we had too much of earlier?
We are in the process of taking down Christmas but it is going slowly. I tried walking a bit the last two mornings, just 3/4 of a mile today and half mile yesterday, but it has left me very stiff and sore. My goal for 2023 of keeping moving is going to be a challenge. Tomorrow I'll get back on the stationary bike for a change up.
After having turkey soup for three days I have to get back to cooking dinner from scratch. With Tom's help the laundry is done for the week. Tom has a start on the house cleaning. We'll clean as we go, taking down stuff, putting other stuff back up.
The sunlight is already fading on the second day of the new year. We're getting back to normal
That's an amazing photo of the Needle with fireworks all around it. We've not been on the ball this year with cleaning up before the New Year. Art usually cleans all the windows but he never started. I didn't get to clean the refrigerators like I usually do. Sigh... However, the fridge is so full right now. I'll wait till we clean it out more. That's my excuse and I stand by it.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't take long to get back to normal. Stuff has to be put in order so that we get back to the regular routine.
ReplyDeleteWe're just about done with leftovers here as well and it's high time! Today I put a few more Christmas things away and packed up a few boxes for the thrift store. Slowly it all gets done.
ReplyDeleteMy Seattle daughter and family (cute little 1 year old boy) are here. She is such an amazing young woman who is always looking out for everyone. She and her husband are helping me get my house in order and cleaned up, cooking for us all, and taking care of baby. She did not enjoy our crazy neighborhood fireworks because it woke the baby up with the big bangs and booms. So glad it is over - Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWow, the fireworks look spectacular. Don and I listened to the fireworks since we were already in bed by then. We had been asleep for an hour (or two), but they woke us up.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could share my ability to walk with you, LInda. You will get there, your tenacity will pay off! Sending you big virtual hugs.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a spectacular photo. Sorry your television didn't provide a good angle.
ReplyDeleteYou're continuing to make the effort to move and I think that is half the battle. It's when you stop that things aren't great - for certain it wasn't for my aunt. I do hope that your mobility improves after your surgery.
You managed to stay up til midnight!?
ReplyDeleteI've been involved in a longevity study for about 30 years now, where they test all of us about every 5 years or so. After all the study and all the people, the conclusion of the study is that keeping moving is essential to healthy aging. Not just physical activity, but mental as well. I love seeing you continuing to walk and garden even when it hurts. I do the same. We both also do word games like Wordle every day. It all helps! Keep moving, you're doing it right! We really have to meet in person some day! I always enjoy your blog even when I don't comment! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWe stayed up till midnight but then went to bed quickly. I also have walking problems and back pains at the moment housework is difficult to do I could have a person to help but I had covid three times and I am scared to have somebody from outside in the house. I do my best and it is done slowly.
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky you have Tom to help you. And as for exercise, I wish I weren't such a sloth.
