It was going to be a very warm day so we headed out early to catch the Fauntleroy Ferry to Vashon Island. Our ferries have lost food service since the pandemic, so we dug out our old Thermos, made some good Tanzanian coffee in the French press to go, got some banana walnut muffins out of the freezer, packed a small lunch in our little cooler, and set off.
We were surprisingly early so we drove to Maury Island, a smaller island connected by a land bridge, found a park by the water and read the newspaper we had brought with us.
At 10:00, opening time, we were at the first garden on the tour, the Halstead/Robinson garden surrounding an historic 1908 home overlooking Quartermaster Harbor.
There were lots of whimsical but stylish decorations in this garden, and fun topiary too.
The plants were lush and healthy, the paths meandering.
The porch across the front of the house was most enticing.
So was this shady bower.
Chess, anyone?
We thoroughly enjoyed this garden, and also the air conditioned ride to the next one. :-)
Beautiful garden, so thoughtfully decorated.

ReplyDeleteMy goodness, the work that goes into a garden like that is incredible. It's all so lovely and I could easily spend several hours sitting in the bower!
ReplyDeleteLovely gardens!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful ferry ride with good coffee and muffins, and the garden was lovely. I like that round table, 2 chairs and red flowers in that sitting area. Thanks for the pretty pics, Linda.
