Running Away From Home

With no crew coming in on Saturday morning to continue the renovation projects, we were free to fly the coop.

We had read about the Soos creek Botanical Garden in near by Kent, which had just recently opened to the public.  It seemed the perfect uncomplicated outing, paired with lunch out and with a trip to the Puyallup Farmers Market.

 The Vegetable Garden

 The Pond
Can you find the duck in the photo below?

 The Long Borders.

The long borders are backed my many varieties of trees.

There is a hardy fuchsia collection in another garden room.

 A rose garden with gazebo.

Here are a few colorful photos of the Farmer's Market.

We mostly strolled, but bought a few of each of corn on the cob, blueberries, and nectarines.
The colors of the fruit match the colors in the garden, very golden, very August.

  3. Love your new header! Like the purple flowere that look like blooming artichokes. I could use a few of the glass balls. Have just the spot for them. Are you feeding Tom? He looks thinner.

  6. Sounds like a perfect day. I wish we had a market like that. Our local market is mostly vegetables and horrible crochet crafts done by odd seniors.

  7. Your new header picture is beautiful! Always nice to find out about new places to visit in our neck of the woods. We will put the Kent gardens on our list! Thanks for sharing!

  8. What fun. I love days like that when I can see all the beautiful flowers, walk through stunning gardens, and visit great markets such as the one you visited. Unfortunately, those days are few and far between. We just don't have any great markets and gardens near our town. Thanks for letting me vicariously enjoy your day.

  9. Lots of colorful pictures, Linda, thank you. Nice way to spend your free time. I don't envy all the dust you have to endure at home because of the renovation.

  11. Breathtaking pictures! You are so blessed to live in such a paradise. We have had about 1/2 inch of rain since early July here in Kansas City. There have been weeks of 100 degrees. Although we have kept up watering, all around is dying. Some trees are turning brown - many are dead. We have wonderful Farmer's Markets here but they have no produce to sell and many are closing. It is very frightening. Your beautiful pictures give me my summer flower fix.
