From the NPA Open Garden book, "A Northwest pleasure garden tucked in a Federal Way neighborhood, the three acres of Powelswood are nestled against another thirty-five acres of native successional forest. The forward-looking garden harmoniously blends luxurious foliage color and the powerful lines of defining hedges against the backdrop of its native trees. It is English in inspiration, with distinct garden rooms, that range from woodland to sub-tropical in feel, featuring more than a thousand varieties of trees, shrubs and perennials."
With that description, enjoy the tour.
Back to where we started, a cool, shady place to rest a bit before getting into a hot car for the drive home.
Three wonderful gardens on July 14th, another great Saturday of NPA garden touring.
A beautiful garden, just right for the passing of a hot afternoon. I was surprised to see the palms, but I forget how different your northern climate is from here in Vermont.
ReplyDeleteSo peaceful and serene, and so much green! Thanks for taking so many wonderful pictures and sharing them, Linda. I feel refreshed from my tour. :-)
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed our visit to Powelswood. Peaceful and appearing quite cool.
ReplyDeleteI love Powellswood, it's a beautiful garden. I missed their open day for NPA members, but I can still go any other day and just pay to see it. I might wait till the weather cools off a bit though. Thanks for sharing your photos.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like all of these gardens try to outdo one another. It's very competitive. The blurb about the garden caught my attention. They use the expression "powerful lines" what does the photo show? Power lines!
ReplyDeleteluscious coolness, would love to sit there and enjoy the beauty!
ReplyDeleteYour area has the best gardens. I loved the image of the fern shadows. Nice capture.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tour. I really like the gate in photo #4.
ReplyDeleteI love this garden although it's been years since I've been there in person. Your gorgeous pictures make me want to revisit Powelswood!
ReplyDeleteReally lovely garden! Somehow, it reminds me of yours, with some open pastures of grass, thoughtful plantings that contrast for drama, and a loving peaceful natural feel.
