Fun With the Sounders

On Sunday, from 11:30 till 2:30, Tom and I participated in the Alliance Member Celebration, an event for Sounders season ticket holders.  It was a chance to tour the stadium, participate in some activities, and get autographs and photos with team members.

Mostly it is an exercise in patience, since everything required waiting in lines, some longer than others. Early on, we kept a good attitude, and visited with others waiting.

We waited quite a while for a chance to meet one of our young stars, Jordan Morris. He signed my scarf and I talked to him.  Tom just wanted a hand shake.

We had our photo taken with the trophies.
I noticed that the Cascadia Cup that the Sounders won Friday night wasn't there. That's because it belongs to the supporters organizations, in this case, the Emerald City Supporters, and not the Sounders organization.
After waiting outside earlier, we were happy to stand in line inside, out of the sun for a chance to meet this group of young guys, get autographs, and photos. This is Justin Dhillon.
Up and coming 20 year old Trey Muse, future goal keeper.

Alex Roldan, half of a dynamic pair of brothers on the team.
Nouhou, whose last name is Tolo, but he just goes by Nouhou.
After all that standing we took some time to sit and eat some lunch before going out onto the stadium turf to wait for more player meet ups. But the line was long and when the players we wanted to connect with changed at the end of their shift, we abandoned the line.
Instead we checked out the stadium perspective from a players point of view.

I guess they might not see us applauding them from way up there.
Our seats are on the rail about above the U in Sounders. We have a view of everything from up there.
We also tried out the player "benches". Pretty comfy, especially since they were by now in the shade.

We traveled by light rail, of course, and were back home by 3:30, ready for some down time. We had fun, talked to a lot of great people, and can't wait to get back to the stadium for a real match.

  1. What a wonderful thing to offer the fans! I loved all the pictures of you and Tom. I didn't know any of the players, but then again, I don't follow the Sounders, or pretty much any team. I enjoyed going along with you on this visit. And thanks for letting me know where your seats are. I'll look for you there on the TV screen. :-)

  3. With pro teams thee's much more than just the game. The more you know the more fun you have.

  4. How exciting to get up close and personal with the actual players and to tour the stadium from a whole new perspective. Those player's benches sure do look comfortable. Puts baseball's dug outs to shame.
