The sun was back out by the time drove the short distance between Watsons and Vasseys, and as we pulled into the parking lot we were greeted by these pillars of purple and pink petunias. Pure perfection!
Hydrangeas are in full bloom.
So much color in the barberries.
Cool stuff in the shade house.
A rain be-jeweled mahonia.
Succulent green walls are fun.
I am interested in this shrub. It might be a good addition to our garden as we move toward lower maintenance.
We found something to buy now, another hardy fuchsia.
This one is called 'Golden Herald', and has large purple and red flowers and golden new growth. Vassey's has wonderful pot displays.
Their perennial benches always have color coordinated displays on the ends.
Their small display garden is packed with color and texture.
The gift shop is a treasure trove, inside and out.
Outside the gift shop we found this wonderful hydrangea, with star-like flowerettes.
1. Your header is exquisite! I've always favored cobalt blue glass.
ReplyDelete2. I would be living at Vassey's if we lived out there.
3. I appreciate fuchsias, too. They, hearty or otherwise, don't appreciate our heat. I have planted a few upright fuchsia in the shade and they do okay.
4. Yes, between the heat and the fires, you all are really suffering. If I could send you rain, I would.
Sometimes running away from home for the day is a wonderful tonic for the spirit. I was just at Vassey yesterday and saw some of these same sights. I didn't take any photos for a post, though. They have a big fall sale coming up, starting Sept. 7, I think. I saw things I wanted, but was torn -- buy now, or wait for the sale, and risk them being gone?

ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous nursery
ReplyDeleteLove those pots! Great tour, mahalo!
ReplyDeleteI have become a petunia fan and enjoy them so much. This nursery is loaded with wonderful color and texture, as you point out. Thanks for the lushious pictures. I love this place. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is always fun to go shopping with you.
ReplyDeleteThe cranberry bush caught my eye and I Googled it to see if the fruit was edible. Yes but tart. What ran me off is that it can be invasive. I have enough of those types all ready. Loved the pillars.
ReplyDeletewhat a fun place. we are now in bonners ferry enjoying a break from the heat but not the smoke-the whole west is full of california and oregon plus idaho and montana fires everywhere...
ReplyDeleteAnother inspiring spot to visit.
ReplyDeleteI like the white clouds in your blue blue sky! We haven't seen our sky for days, only smoke and haze.
I'm sure I would completely forget about heat if I went through this garden center.
ReplyDeleteVassey certainly does win in the charm department and also in the lower price department. Great plants and really nice people. Like Alison, I was there not so long ago and am looking forward to the big sale!
ReplyDeleteHow could you resist that Pink Hydrangea! So pretty! What a nice outing:)
