April Showers?

Can you call them showers if they never stop? I think this is April rain. And while April showers in some parts of the country might bring May flowers, here in the great Pacific Northwest, April rain drowns April flowers. We went to breakfast with friends as usual this Friday morning, but since then I haven't ventured out of the house more that to step out the door for these photos. We cleaned house, in hopes that tomorrow, or the next day, we could get out for an outing, and the work would be done. Then I decorated. We won't be home for Easter. In fact we'll be leaving in two weeks, so I thought I'd better get the decorations out if I was going to use them at all. And I do love Easter decorations. They are so cheerful. I did spend a little more time reading the paper over my lunch. The world is a puzzling place, and never more so than these days. The 'Elephants' in Washington DC seem especially confused. I love this cartoon. (Click to enlarge) Well, since a walk is again out as an option, I guess I'd better get on that stationary bike again and do my ten miles.

  2. They're telling us we may have snowflakes tomorrow morning. Looking forward to some warmth around here. I love your Easter collection Linda, and enjoyed the cartoon.

  3. Showers? You're concerned about mere showers? We got a good 8", if not 10", of new SNoW today.

And we're sucking it up, as all true Mainers do.

  4. We are in sunny New Mexico for a week. Next winter we'll be out of the Pacific NW for most of January and February. A few years ago we went to a retirement seminar to explore what we wanted to do after we stopped working. We realized the only thing we don't like about the NW is January. I can do the rain better when the light is longer, which it is now. But still, I'm glad we're here this week. Sorry for your indoor state.

  6. Today has been unremittingly dreary, I agree. But yesterday the sun was shining a bit, tomorrow more, and Sunday even more. Hang in there, Linda!

  8. I can only imagine how the constant rain is getting you down. I hope that the weather improves some. You can send some of that rain to us. We really need it.

Your Easter displays are very charming.

  10. I love that cartoon, too! We've had off and on rain this whole week. It keeps showering in the afternoon when we usually take our walk together. Art runs in the morning, but hasn't been able to in such a long time. Really weird weather. It's driving my mother crazy since she wants to hang her laundry outside.

  13. Yesterday, the sun peeked out for about an hour. Most of us suffered shock and awe as we didn't know what it was.

    The house looks festive.

    I love that cartoon, too.

  15. Regarding the cartoon... the opposing political party criticizing the president is about as commonplace as rain in Seattle. Why let it distract from the what really matters? Is this to mean you condone the Libya bombings?

  16. Well, Joe, since you are basically anonymous, it is hard to respond to you. Do I condone the Libya bombings? It's not up to me to condone or disapprove. I have so little information concerning what's going on behind the scenes in Libya that I know when not to cast judgement. I do believe that President Obama, Sec. Gates and Sec. Clinton are trustworthy and have their finger on the pulse of the situation, and are serving us well.
But if you are privy to better information, please share.
