Happy 70th Birthday, Twins!

Tom and Jan are celebrating their 70th birthday today.  How can that be???  It wasn't that long ago that they were just babes in arms.
At two they seemed a bit bewildered at this birthday thing.

By then they had a baby brother, Dave.
They both grew up to be remarkable people.  Both are retired educators.  Jan taught high school physics, was a high school principal, and a part time professor teaching others to be principals.  Tom taught 4th grade, Elementary PE, and his first love, kindergarten.

Jan loves the water - boating, kayaking, exploring the bays and inlets of Puget Sound.  Tom loves the earth, the soil, and visits gardens wherever we travel.  And of course he is the head gardener at Reeder Gardens.

They both love Whidbey Island, where they spent many happy days at the old cabin.  Now we all gather at the new cabin, like we did this summer when the California cousins visited.
No longer confused about celebrating birthdays, they have the prolonged pageant down.  We celebrated their birthdays Saturday with time together and a special dinner out.  Today Jan is at the Whidbey cabin with her partner Ann and some friends.  Tom and I will be going to an important Sounders soccer match this evening, as the Sounders defend the Open Cup title.  We're thinking a trophy would be a good birthday present. Tomorrow we'll go to Whidbey for the day.  I've asked Jan to save cake.

No, the confusion now is about HOW it could be 70 years already!  But for those 44 years that I've known then, they've been very good years.  Happy Birthday, Twins!
