Cider Fest 2011

The sun shined on us again as my brother Hank hosted the annual family "Apple Squeeze".

The junior set had fun filling the buckets from the bin.
Mia lugged the buckets to the washing and cutting station.
Sister Laurie and niece-in-law Jody prepped the apples for squeezing.

At the cider press, nephews Ben and Andy crushed the apples.

Son Jake, and nephew-in-law Troy supervised the squeezing to press the juice out.
The remaining pulp was added to the compost.
Various crews strained the cider into jugs. Here brother Hank and brother-in-law Arnie are working.

We brought my Aunt Evelyn and my cousin Dan with us from Seattle.  Mom and her sister had a good visit.
 Cousins reunited.

Sisters shared stories and gathered around our mother.
Father and daughter conferred on the sidelines.
Arnie grilled the chicken and cooked the corn on the cob.
Eating time.  I put my camera away and joined in.  I'll go back on my diet tomorrow :-)
And we all came home with fresh squeezed apple cider.

  3. You are indeed fortunate to have such a close knit family. I think this is just wonderful for the youngest generation to have these extended family experiences. Do you pinch yourself at the wonder of having those two grand kids so close by now?
