School kids, and especially teachers!, are happy today that the predicted snow actually materialized. NO SCHOOL!
It's still below freezing her in south Seattle and snowing lightly, as it has been since very early morning. We have about six inches by now, but points south of here have much more. Snow is expected to continue through tomorrow morning.
Tom and I put on our coats and gloves and boots and went for a walk up around the school.
I took the little Canon PowerShot along for some fun angles on the snowy school ground.
By the looks of the side streets, like the hill in front of our house, there is a good chance tomorrow will also be a SNOW DAY!
Terrific captures, Linda, and it is lovely isn't it? Just hope it doesn't stay around too long although I'm sure the kids don't feel that way!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Linda!
Sylvia
Great pictures, and brave you to not let a little snow keep you inside. If you really want some snow pictures, go up to our place near Granite Falls. The neighbors tell me they have over a foot of snow. I'll worry about the roof when we get home. :)
ReplyDeleteI never stick my toe out if there's the slightest chance of falling. I can see you have no fear of that. The shots are wonderful. I'm surprised Jill and the kids haven't found their way over to your house. Perhaps they're busy building their own snowman at their house.
ReplyDeleteCan't help but envy your snow, Linda!
ReplyDeleteWhat Canon Powershot do you have. it sure takes good pictures. Love your shots. I want a camera but don't want to spend a lot for one. I want to take photos for a hobby but like I said don't want to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty, isn't it? The morning commute was interesting!
ReplyDelete@ Linda: Jill and the kids are snowed in and so are we, about five miles from here. I talked to them on the phone today. they had fun in the snow, and by the time I called, they were busy with computer games indoors.
ReplyDelete2Claudia: Canon PowerShot SX 110IS, about three years old. New version Canon PowerShot SX130IS.
ReplyDeleteOur schools were closed too, although we didn't have much snow. Mid morning it started to come down hard, but we have less than an inch. It was still a good excuse to stay in and read a book!
ReplyDeletegreat photos but cold looking...
ReplyDeleteI saw this one the news and thought of you...we don't have this much snow here at all..hopefully it will warm up and melt soon for you. I don't think you have the equipment that we do here to salt and plow..
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos Linda. Those shapes are enhanced by the snow and you captured them well I though - Dave
ReplyDeleteWe are cold with snow to the north of you, Linda. Today I think I will dig my car out and join my Trailblazer friends (those who show up) for an in-town walk. Nobody wants to drive very far. And of course I'll have my SX150IS.
ReplyDeletemany of your snow shots are very artistic
ReplyDeleteI love how you caught patterns
they haven't cleared the roads yet have they
so pretty
Great images of your white world, I like the contrast with the colorful play equipment. It looks like you still have power, I'm hearing that many up in the Seattle area don't.
ReplyDeleteKeep safe and warm and send some of that wet stuff our way, we can sure use it.
Gorgeous photos, Linda. I have to tell you that in Illinois we'd have to have 15 inches for them to close schools. I still remember President Obama's kids laughing when they closed schools in D.C. due to snow.
