The Sun Sets On Our Sunny Days

It just occurred to me now that this is a Friday the thirteenth!  I never heard it mentioned by anyone all day.  Oh, well, I hope it was lucky for you.  It was a good day for me.

We started out day with breakfast with our Friday morning breakfast group.  The conversation was lively.  Then we did a little shopping, and before I knew it it was almost noon!

I have begun working on trip plans for a trip to Massachusetts, upstate New York, and perhaps Vermont for this spring.  We will be attending a family wedding in Chelmsford, MA June 2nd, and plan to spend about two weeks touring the area.  Today I ordered travel books and state atlases.

This afternoon I got in another long walk, 4.4 miles, in the neighborhood.  Tomorrow, and for the foreseeable future I will most likely be house bound, as rain and snow are on the way to stay for a while.  We have had a stretch of dry, partly sunny weather and I have enjoyed my daily walks.

This evening the area was abuzz and ablaze with this glorious sunset.
I don't have a great window on sunsets, but there was no missing this color.  These photos were taken from my front porch.  Of course there is more than one.  It's the kind of show you just have to keep shooting.

It was almost as if it was an apology for taking our sunshine away.

  1. Weren't these skies amazing!! I got some captures from the roof and could hardly believe what I was seeing! Fantastic shots, Linda!! Probably the last one we'll see for a while if the forecast is right! Hope you have a great weekend!

  2. I love the bad weather for about a month and then I'm ready for spring. Doesn't happen here. We have several months of rain yet to go. March is a horrible month. After that I settle in to endure April and May. Then June comes, the flowers appear, the earth turns beautiful and I wonder why I ever complained about the rain. Without it we wouldn't have all the beauty that surrounds us.

  3. We had the same glorious red sunset. Although it was sunny here today, it was cold. I was fooled looking out the window to thinking it was a nice day...and then I went outside. I'm not looking forward to snow next week.

  4. Fabulous shots, Linda! What amazing skies! I didn't realize it was Friday the 13th until the end of the day too. The 13th is an important number in our family. You'd think one of us would have noticed!

  5. gorgeous sunset progression. We celebrated Friday the 13th-our lucky day as we met on one Nov 13, 1992 at a singles dance. It sounds like cold weather is coming soon to us too.

  6. I just looked at the forecasts and they are on track for some snow and cold weather. Then rain, lots of it. So I guess you are right that our sunshine is gone for awhile. I'll be walking in it anyway, since I've got the gear for it. :-)

  8. It's cold this morning, probably in the high 50s or low 60s, typical weather for January in Hawaii. Those are pretty shots of your sunset!
