Anniversary

On Monday it was one year to the day that I began my weight loss program, recording food intake and counting calories with CalorieCount.com.  


A year ago I was desperate to find a fix for the pain I was in: heel pain from plantar faciitis, and arthritic pain in my knees, hip, ankle, back and neck.  I had been to docs, had x-rays, and tried various treatments.  Nothing really worked.  So I took matters into my own hands.  I started a program of Naproxen for pain and inflammation.  I began regular exercise for weight management and physical therapy exercises I had accumulateded over several years.  And I began to lower the stress on my joints by losing weight.


It worked.  I am happy to say that now I am relatively pain free.  I am 48 pounds lighter.  I am much more mobile and flexible.  I am much happier with how I look and feel.


I made it through the holidays with a small weight gain, which I have taken off several times, including recovering from the bump last week during the power outage. Today I am one pound lighter than my lowest weight in many years.  I am back on my program of calorie counting and exercise.  Thank goodness for the stationary bike during our cold and rainy weather.  I have been doing 11 to 12 miles a day this week.  I am  reaching for the next ten pound benchmark.

  2. Wow! That is truly inspiring. It's very noticeable in your pictures that you are much lighter. Your spirit is also lighter, as you radiate health and happiness in every post. I'm glad I get to follow your life. It enriches mine. :-)

  6. Congratulations to you. This is a real accomplishment and one for which you should be very proud.

    You inspire me. I am down about 10 lbs from about a year ago. I did not gain over the holidays. I am unable to exercise since my fall, but I am below the weight plateau that I had not been able to break for over five years. I am happy for that.

  9. Good for you, Linda!!! That is so excellent. Art's cousin is having all kinds of issues with her knees and health. We know that weight is a big part of it, but it's so hard to help her.

  13. Wow! I was most impressed that you're walking 10-12 miles a day. That is commitment. I'm getting on the fitness train in February, because it's the shortest month I think I can keep the commitment for 29 days at least!
